Moro
If you’ve followed Al Hashimi for any length of time, you’ll know by now: when we go quiet, something deep is brewing. And now—true to form—we return with a brooding force from the southern wilds of the Philippines. Introducing Moro: a dark, earthy Filipino oud oil named in honour of the proud and resilient cultures of Mindanao.
Moro is not for the faint of nose. This is oud in its rawest, most grounded form—a subterranean brew of loamy jungle earth, aged bark, and smouldering forest resins, all coiled around a whisper of vanilla that hums quietly through the base like the distant call to prayer in the still heat of dusk.
This is our answer to the call for something unflinchingly rooted in terroir. In contrast to the brighter, floral-tinged Filipino oils seen in years past, Moro takes the opposite path: deeper, denser, more primal. It opens with a fierce ouddiness—no sweetness to lull you in, no perfumer’s tricks. Just the honest soul of Mindanao wood, distilled.
But wait… as the oil settles on the skin, a subtle metamorphosis begins. Beneath the thick folds of earth and bark, you’ll find an evolving trail of dried vanilla pod, hints of old leather, and a soft spice note reminiscent of charred cinnamon and sun-baked roots. The transitions are slow and organic, never forced—just like the land it hails from.
Like Adan and Adnan before it, Moro is true to its source yet entirely its own creature. Where Adan roared with fresh wild heat, and Adnan whispered with vaporous finesse, Moro walks barefoot through the jungle floor, cloaked in centuries of ancestral memory.
In a world of loud top notes and sugar-drenched gimmicks, Moro stands quiet and grounded—a silent monument to Filipino oud in its most dignified, elemental form.
Oh—and the price? Let’s just say: it doesn’t reflect what’s in the bottle. But that’s between us.
