Kinana
Baklava
I'm going to make a bold statement: Baklava is the oil that puts Kinana on the map. This is a vintage wild oil from Khao Yai,, Thailand, distilled in 2013, and it represents everything I want this brand to stand for.
When I first encountered this oil, I was genuinely taken aback. The opening is this beautiful green jungle spiciness that's so convincing, you'd be forgiven for thinking you were smelling a top-tier Indonesian. But it's not Indonesian; it's Thai, from Khao Yai, and that makes it all the more fascinating.
The complexity here is remarkable. Layer upon layer reveals itself as you wear Baklava. Smooth, fruity undertones support the green jungle character. There's a silky quality to it that speaks to both the age and the quality of the original material. Wild Thai oil from over a decade ago—this is genuinely rare material.
I debated long and hard about whether Baklava should be an Al Hashimi release. The quality certainly justifies it. But ultimately, I decided that Kinana needs to have its statement pieces too—oils that demonstrate this brand is anything but entry-level. At $850, Baklava is premium, but it's a vintage wild oil with over a decade of aging. For what you're getting, it's actually a remarkable value.
The dry down is where Baklava seals its legacy: the spiciness gradually recedes, replaced by this gorgeous green sweetness that lingers for hours. This is an oil you wear when you want to make an impression, on others and on yourself.
