Al Ghaliyah

Al Ghaliyah has its origins deep in my personal journey with Ghal’liyah Abbasi. When we created Abbasi, we poured into it some of the finest and rarest musks available on earth — Siberian, Mongolian, Tonkin and Kashmiri — every last grain we had. The result was magnificent, but it also made Abbasi incredibly limited, and once those musks were gone, they were gone.

Al Ghaliyah is my answer to that challenge. It preserves the unmistakable structure and Abbasid soul of Abbasi, but with a deliberate and thoughtful recalibration. Instead of leaning heavily on the rarest and most finite materials, it places greater emphasis on the Kashmiri and Himalayan musk in Mysore sandalwood accord — a foundation originally crafted for us in Dubai and refined over time. This accord now forms the majority of the blend, bringing a smoother and more approachable elegance, while allowing the fragrance to exist beyond a handful of bottles.

To turn this into a sprayable extrait, I blended 4 grams of the original Al Ghaliyah attar into a finely balanced composition — not a dilution, but a transformation tuned for projection, atmosphere and wearability. The opulent rose, strands of saffron, Mysore sandalwood, ambergris and oud remain exactly where they should be — anchored by that expanded musk–sandalwood body, velvety and rich, binding everything together in harmony.

It was important to me that Al Ghaliyah did not become a compromise. I wanted it to feel just as precious, just as expressive, and just as rooted in the classical spirit that inspired Abbasi — only with more room to breathe. More room to be worn, lived in, enjoyed.

There is also an element of irony here: because of the materials inside, the bottle is, by definition, underpriced. To put this into perspective — 2.5 grams of the Al Ghaliyah attar alone costs 650 USD. For this extrait, each bottle contains 4 grams of that very same attar, before we account for the Mysore sandalwood, rose, oud, ambergris and the rest. But I wanted this to be accessible, not a museum piece. A scent that could actually be worn by the collectors who understand it.

Al Ghaliyah was made to celebrate heritage without putting it out of reach. It is Abbasi’s grandeur distilled into a form that allows more people to experience it — still rich, still refined, still unmistakably from our house — but with longevity, projection and practicality supporting the artistry.
